I started dreaming up Swamp Sense because I wanted to create a brand that honored the place I knew best: the bayous, swamps, and marshes that raised me. These landscapes hold a kind of quiet magic — mysterious, humbling, and full of life. But as that idea took root, I realized it wasn’t just the land that moved me. It was the culture that thrived in it — the languages, beliefs, and especially the myths that flourished in the shadows and shaped the rhythm of everyday life.

Raised in the heart of South Louisiana, I was surrounded by a cultural patchwork unlike anywhere else in the world. French and Spanish ancestry runs through my own bloodline, but I also grew up steeped in the legends, traditions, and healing practices passed down from African, Creole, and Native communities — all of which left an indelible mark on Louisiana’s identity.

These stories weren’t just tales told around a fire. They were lived experiences. Remedies handed down in kitchens and backyards. Warnings carried on the wind. Faith and folklore braided into daily life. Swamp Sense began as a way to hold onto that — to preserve it, honor it, and offer it back in a form that others could experience for themselves. It’s a place for storytelling, exploration, and slow, intentional living.

From that root, Mirelume emerged — a refined extension of that same spirit, offering handmade remedies and skin care products grounded in ancestral wisdom but made for modern times. Each formula is crafted with ingredients chosen for their historical use and time-tested benefits — no synthetics, no fillers, and no empty promises. Just clean, thoughtful formulations that support the body with the same reverence our ancestors brought to their medicine.
